About the Director

Growing up, Karen always had a passion and interest in teaching. She would model her teachers and tutors at school and would roleplay this at home to her younger sisters. Her mother observed this and suggested that Karen one day open a school for herself.

Upon entering university, Karen took up Bachelor in Elementary Education, majoring in Early Childhood Education at De La Salle University - Manila, located in Taft Avenue, Manila. During this time, her passion and interest in young children and in education allowed her to excel in her studies. She joined the La Salle Debate Society where she learned the importance of being empathetic and aware of current events around the world. She graduated Summa Cum Laude, the highest honour, with a GPA of 3.818 out of 4.000.

She worked for three and a half years at one of the best progressive schools in the Philippines located in Quezon City until she decided that she wanted to pursue further study and improve her pedagogy and craft in teaching.

She studied and obtained a Master of Teaching in Early Childhood Education from the University of Sydney, located in Australia. Upon her graduation, the University was ranked within the top 20 universities in the world according to QS University Rankings.

While studying, Karen was also working full-time as an Early Childhood Teacher in big name centres across Australia such as "Only About Children", "Little Zak's Academy" and "Goodstart Early Learning". At Goodstart Early Learning, Australia's biggest non-for-profit company for early childhood education, she was promoted to becoming the educational leader of the center located in Alexandria, Sydney.

After 4.5 years of working in Sydney, Australia, Karen's dream of improving early childhood education in the Philippines is still ever present. Thus, she decided to come back to the Philippines and founded The Creative Abode Academy.
